Welcome to Gizo

For a total island experience you'll never forget, a visit to the Gizo Hotel is a must.

Located on Gizo's waterfront and adjacent to its exotic markets, the King Solomon's laid back sister resort, the Gizo Hotel offers the "Best in the West" for those seeking all the adventure and excitement the Western Province has to offer.

The Gizo Hotel embodies the spirit of the South Pacific and due to its central location, is often used as a convenient jumping off point for those who wish to explore the beauty of the surrounding reefs and atolls.

Naru Island - Solomon Island Resort's own private paradise

Naru Island earnt its place in history when John F Kennedy swam there after being shipwrecked during WW2. Fearing enemy patrols, Kennedy and another survivor stepped carefully through the brush but only saw the wreck of a small Japanese vessel out on the reef. Kennedy and Ross were just walking back onto the beach when they saw two men out at the Japanese wreck. The men, clearly islanders, Gasa and Kumana helped the Americans and left the following message scratched into a green coconut

- NAURO ISL COMMANDER . . . NATIVE KNOWS POS'IT . . . HE CAN PILOT . . . 11 ALIVE NEED SMALL BOAT . . . KENNEDY

Today Naru Island is owned by Solomon Islands Resorts, the largest chain of resorts in the Solomon Islands. Naru is the most beautiful island in the Gizo region and is easily accessed by boat from the Gizo Hotel.

You can rent the island from just $500 per night as an opening special. You will find your accommodation to be a brand new three-bedroom bungalow. Two of the bedrooms have expansive ocean views. The third bedroom looks back into lush jungle. The open-air leaf house is fully self-contained and features an outdoor BBQ. It is serviced by pure rainwater and contains many carvings that are sure to impress its occupants.

Dine at the Gizo Hotel during your time on Naru or choose to cater for yourself on the island by grocery shopping at the exotic Gizo markets and fishing the abundant waters surrounding the island.

The islands caretakers, who reside a discreet distance from the main house will ensure all your needs are catered for and will be on hand to offer transport between Naru Island and the Gizo Hotel, which can be contacted by mobile phone. You can laze on your own private beach, snorkel in crystal clear pacific island waters or dive the two world class dive sites situated within Naru's protected lagoon, the Naru Gap and Wall
